Office of Emergency Management

Mission Statement

Our mission is to reduce the loss of life, property, and damage to the environment through promoting a safer, less vulnerable community with the capacity to cope with effects of all hazards natural or man-made. We aim to provide a comprehensive and integrated emergency management system that coordinates the city and community resources through prevention, preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery efforts.

In order to accomplish this mission, the department will:

  • Communicate with state and federal agencies
  • Coordinate the activities of various city departments responsible for continued operations during disasters
  • Coordinate inter-local agreements for resource utilization
  • Provide education and training
