Accounting

The Accounting Division is responsible for general accounting, cash management, revenue collection, debt management and the investment of city funds. Accounting is comprised of accounts payable, capital projects and purchasing. Accounting is also responsible for all fiscal transactions, the preparation of financial reports, the development of the City's Annual Operating Budget, the capital improvements plan and the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

Property values are determined by the Denton County Central Appraisal District and ad valorem taxes are billed and collected by the Denton County tax office. An audit of all financial transactions is prepared annually by an external auditor to ensure the proper and ethical accounting of public funds.
