The City of The Colony Water Distribution Department will be conducting a smoke testing program for the sanitary sewer system from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, and Thursday, Oct. 21.
The "smoke" is used to locate where sewer lines may need repairs. The smoke is white and will enter the sanitary sewer system and out through the vent stacks of residential and commercial buildings. There are no hazards associated with this smoke to pets, property, or humans. In the event that smoke enters the inside of a building, then that means there may be a plumbing leak. If the smoke enters the property, it will dissipate very soon, and opening a door or window will help.
During this testing, a street may be partially blocked in some cases to help workers access manholes but thru traffic will be allowed.
The testing area includes Augusta Street east to FM423 and Carr Street south to North Colony Blvd. The streets impacted by this testing are:
- Carr
- Chapman
- Augusta
- Jenkins
- Nervin
- Larner
- Hale
- Anderson
- Younger
- Fryer
- Curry
- Larner Circle
- Nervine Circle
- Jenkins Circle
- Chapman Circle
Additional testing will be conducted at other locations around the city in the future. For more information, call Public Works at 972-624-3129.
