During its regular meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 4, The Colony City Council recognized engineering inspectors Michael Chesney and Gerardo Vazquez for their recent help in locating a missing child.

On the evening of Nov. 24, 2021, a special-needs child went missing in the Eastvale neighborhood. As a multi-agency search was underway, Chesney and Vazquez took it upon themselves to join in the search at the end of their shifts. They located the missing child along the shoreline of the lake, and he was soon reunited with his family.

"I'm gonna go ahead and call them heroes because I believe that's what they are," Assistant Police Chief Jay Goodson said. The pair were given certificates of recognition from TCPD Police Chief David Coulon and Goodson.

Well done, Michael and Gerardo!
