Officers from The Colony, Lewisville, Carrollton, and Flower Mound participate in the 3rd annual Shop with a Cop, sponsored by Journey to a Dream.

On December 19th, 2019 some of our communities most vulnerable teens will get to experience the magic of Christmas at Valley Creek Church Next Steps Center in Lewisville.  Our "Shop with a Cop" program is an event where homeless and high risk teens are escorted (lights and all) by our communities finest Officers on a fun shopping event at Target. Local Police Officers and Teens spend time together, one on one, in an unforgettable holiday shopping experience and Christmas party.

Journey to Dream positively impacts over 15,000 students annually and has been helping hurting teens since 2004. Programs include school prevention assemblies , students support groups, as well as homeless services. In 2007, JTD opened Kyle's Place which is the only youth shelter in Denton County for unaccompanied teens. Kyle's Place embraces, equips and empowers homeless youth, proving the rule that housing the homeless costs far less than leaving them on the streets.

The Colony Police Department is honored and excited to partner with all the local agencies for this Shop with a Cop celebration.
