The grand opening event for the new fishing pier at Stewart Creek Park is being cancelled due to the high water levels on Lewisville Lake. The fishing pier will open to the public as soon as water levels recede enough to safely do so.

ORIGINAL POST: The Colony Parks & Recreation Department, Community Development Corp. and City Council are excited to announce the upcoming grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new fishing pier at Stewart Creek Park.
The event will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the park, 3700 Sparks Road in The Colony.
Park Development Manager Eve Morgan offered a rundown of the new pier’s many features.
“A long gangway leads to the pier, which is positioned in an area of the lake that will allow the pier to float as the lake levels fluctuate,” Morgan said. “The fishing pier has a covered area on the main part of the pier and two extensions on either side that are uncovered. Picnic tables and benches will be added for anglers wanting a break from fishing or for visitors to observe the beautiful views of the lake. It will be a great place to fish or just enjoy the sunset at the end of a long day.”
Community Services Director Pam Nelson said the pier will offer yet another amenity to an already fantastic facility.
“Stewart Creek Park already provides a wide variety of lakeside recreational opportunities, but the new fishing pier will take it to the next level by allowing visitors to actually be on the water without having to own a boat,” Nelson said. “We invite the entire community to join us as we do the first ceremonial ‘cast’ from the pier in hopes of reeling in a big one!”
Stewart Creek Park is closed that day for another special event, but will be open with free park entry for attendees of the grand opening from 9 a.m. to noon. All vehicles will need to exit the park by noon that day for the other event.
