Work began in late December 2018 on a $2.8 million project to replace more than a mile of sewer line originally constructed in 1974.
Motorists on North Colony may notice work underway near Griffin Middle School. The North Trunk Sewer pipeline is 6,400-feet long and extends from Miller Drive north along Stewart Creek to the city’s Stewart Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant.
City staff conducted an inspection in 2014 and determined that the wastewater line needs to be replaced due to deteriorating pipe and manhole conditions. The pipeline will also be increased in size to provide the additional capacity needed for future flows from the Austin Ranch Lift Station.
The City Council approved funding for the project at its Oct. 2, 2018, meeting.
