[ARCHIVED] NTTA: Fourth Lane Project to widen the SRT

The North Texas Tollway Authority is kicking off 2019 with the early stages of a project to widen the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SRT).

Dubbed the Fourth Lane Project, improvements to the SRT primarily include constructing an additional lane in each direction (in the center median) along the entire 26 miles of the SRT, from west of Denton Tap Road in Coppell to U.S. Highway 75 in McKinney. Auxiliary lanes will be added in various locations along the corridor to improve ramp merging areas.

Crews have begun placing signage along the roadway. Officials say the work will have minimal impact on highway traffic flow but overnight work on most bridges, such as the one at Main Street, will result in closures of the underpass. Notice will be given in advance of any such closures. For more information on the project, please contact NTTA directly at 972-628-3134 or by emailing [email protected].
