[ARCHIVED] Egret - Migratory Birds

Egret Birds

The public is reminded that City staff is working with residents at this time to deter egrets and other migratory birds from nesting in The Colony neighborhoods.

Egret-deterrence efforts continue

The public is reminded that City staff is working with residents at this time to deter egrets and other migratory birds from nesting in The Colony neighborhoods.

Often times this involves the use of noise-makers that sound a lot like gunshots. These noisemakers are loud and can be heard from a good distance away.

Staff is communicating with the Police Department in advance of using the noisemakers so that dispatch is aware in case 911 calls are made to report gunshots. We continue to ask for your assistance in reporting egret sightings in your neighborhood by contacting Parks & Recreation (not the Police Department) at 972-625-1106 or by email. More information about the initiative is available The Colony website.
