According to Denton County Public Health, creating a household plan can help protect your health and the health of those you care about in the event of a COVID19 outbreak in your community.
As such, DCPH recommends adhering to the following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
Note regarding facemasks: Wear a facemask if you are sick. If you are NOT sick, you do not need to wear a facemask unless you are caring for someone who is sick (and they are not able to wear a facemask). Facemasks may be in short supply and they should be saved for caregivers, first-responders, and medical professionals.
Note regarding pets: According to the CDC, there is no reason to think that any animals, including pets in the United States, might be a source of infection with this new coronavirus. To date (3/11/20), CDC has not received any reports of pets or other animals becoming sick with COVID-19. At this time, there is no evidence that companion animals, including pets, can spread COVID-19. However, since animals can spread other diseases to people, it’s always a good idea to wash your hands after being around animals.
