Mayor Boyer delivers 'State of the City'

Mayor Richard Boyer presented his "State of the City" address on Thursday, Nov. 16, at The Colony Chamber of Commerce luncheon, held at Andretti Indoor Karting & Games. The Mayor offered his gratitude for the stability and cohesion of the City Council.

He also emphasized "The Colony Way," in which vital economic development happens based on thinking outside the box and from building relationships that result in one-of-a-kind ventures and venues.

City Council approves property tax Homestead Exemption

On June 6, 2023, The Colony City Council unanimously approved an amendment to the city’s Code of Ordinances that allows homeowners to claim an annual 1-percent or a minimum $5,000 homestead exemption on their property taxes, whichever is greater.

The exemption only applies to single-family homeowners who reside in their home in The Colony. It does not apply to commercial properties or investment/rental properties.
